The 4th Iberaqua Congress brings together public authorities, industry and industrial water technology companies on 27–28 October at the Hotel SB Icaria in Barcelona. It is organised by AQUA ESPAÑA, TecnoAqua and IndustriAmbiente, and water reuse takes up a large part of the programme: four of its ten panels deal with water treatment and reuse.
The opening panel, on legislation and public initiatives, has four talks, three of them on reclaimed water:
- Ana Isabel González, Head of Service for Water Quality at Spain’s Directorate-General for Water, will present the new guide from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) on interpreting Royal Decree 1085/2024, which approved the Water Reuse Regulation.
- Vanesa Mateo, Director General for Water of the Principality of Asturias, will explain the initiative to supply industry with reclaimed water from a municipal treatment plant.
- Fernando Cabello, Director of Water Cycle Services at the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), will present the AMB’s Reclaimed Water Master Plan and the industrial water project in Barcelona’s Zona Franca industrial estate.
The panel is completed by Jordi Agustí, Director General for Water Transition of the Government of Catalonia, on Catalonia’s draft water transition law.
The second panel covers financing and investment in water-efficiency projects, with CDTI, Spain’s innovation agency, Banc de Sabadell and Act4Water. The rest of the programme covers real-time monitoring and control, process and energy optimisation, sludge management in industrial plants and, to close, the case of AITASA as a benchmark for industrial water reuse.
