The 4th Iberaqua Congress takes place on 27 and 28 October in Barcelona, organised by Aqua España and the trade publications TecnoAqua and IndustriAmbiente, published by Infoedita. Following the announcement of the congress and its first two panels, on legislation and financing, TecnoAqua has now outlined the rest of a programme that runs to ten panels.

On 27 October, after those two panels:

  • ‘Measure to manage’: two panels on real-time monitoring and control, covering continuous supervision of feed and process water, organic load control, instrumentation of critical parameters, cutting water and chemical consumption, and the use of soft sensors, advanced analytics and machine learning to anticipate incidents.
  • Process optimisation, energy consumption and dosing, with cases on improving organic matter recovery for biogas and reducing aeration for nitrogen removal.
  • Advanced treatment and reuse technologies, with in-situ advanced oxidation and membranes to produce demineralised water.

On 28 October:

  • More treatment technologies: membrane filtration for hard-to-treat water, test systems to characterise industrial water, MBBR and DAF processes to cope with load variations and emergencies, and disinfection in the food industry under drought and reuse conditions.
  • Sludge management in industrial plants: automated dewatering, thermal drying, screw-based technologies, sludge pumping and optimisation of decanter centrifuges.
  • Water reuse in industry: analytical control requirements and cases from sectors such as marine, beverages, food and steel.
  • To close, the Tarragona chemical cluster and the AITASA model, covering the effluent treatment and reuse solutions already in place and planned projects.

The congress opens on 27 October at 09:00 with registration and ends on 28 October at 15:30. Alongside the panels, it has an exhibition area with stands, pre-arranged business meetings and a networking dinner. The full programme, with speakers and times, is on the congress website.
